III: Time for homeowners to prepare for hurricane season
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is expecting an above-normal hurricane season this year, so now is the time for homeowners, business owners and even car owners to start preparing.
The NOAA predicts three to six major hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin for the six-month hurricane season that began yesterday (June 1). There is a 70 percent likelihood that the aforementioned range of three to six hurricanes occurs, the NOAA said, so it is highly probable that the seasonal average of two major hurricanes will be surpassed in 2011.
