LONDON –”Lloyd’s of London said Monday that it is confident that its market can withstand the insured losses resulting from the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on Friday.
“Lloyd’s routinely stress tests individual syndicates and the market as a whole for large-scale natural catastrophes of this nature and we are confident that the market can respond to any claims in the normal course of business,” it said in a statement.
A spokesman for Lloyd’s said it is too early to estimate the market’s potential losses from the disaster.
